Sunday 12th Feb. Swiss Teams ResultsPosted: February 13th, 2012
Congratulations Alex Riggs - Damien Czapnik and
Matthew Vadas - Bob Richman on winning!
Sixteen teams entered our
Sunday Swiss Teams Congress. From the outset, picking who would win was as
difficult as predicting the weather in Sydney with many teams in contention. The
event consisted of five rounds, playing twelve boards each round. For a Swiss
movement, every round each team is matched against the team with an equal or
nearly equal score. The IMP result for the round is then converted to Victory
Points(VPs) using a VP Scale. Round 2 established the three teams that would
lead for the remainder of the day, Brown, Riggs and
Dawson. The final round was exciting as the three teams mentioned
previously and the Gosney team all could win the
event. The end result was:
- Alex Riggs, Damien Czapnik, Matthew Vadas and Bob Richman 99 VPs
- Jane Dawson, Peter Gill, Michael Wu and William Zhang 92 VPs
- Vanessa Brown, William Jenner-Oshea, Michael Waring and Jamie Ebery 90 VPs
Friday Afternoon TeamsPosted: February 19th, 2012
Last Friday Michael Rosenman and Michael Bishop, Susie Berger and Paul Lavings played against Tom Fischer and Barbara Temple, Fay Cooney and Andrew Markovics. The afternoon was run as two 14 board rounds. In round one, the Rosenman team suffered the maximum loss possible of 25 Victory Points(VPs) due to some "minor" bidding misunderstandings resulting in playing in a 3-1 fit instead of a 5-4 fit! In the 2nd round, the bidding settled down and the Rosenman team won that round 21 to 9 VPs. The afternoon costs $15 and starts at 2pm and finishes at 5pm. You don't need to bring a team or even a partner as we have stand-by players. Come along and try it out.
